Meet Cindy
Hi, I’m Cindy Hanewinckel, a children’s author, volunteer, and creator of the Small Acts, Big Hearts series.
What began as a simple act of kindness in my community inspired my first children’s book, Missing Green Crayon, and sparked a mission to help children discover the power of compassion, courage, and community.
My mission is simple: to help color the world with kindness—one small act at a time. 💚
My Story
Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can have the biggest impact.
As a volunteer in my community, I have always believed that kindness matters. One day, I came across a flyer about a missing green crayon online. What seemed like a simple, lighthearted flyer quickly became something much more meaningful. Neighbors shared the flyer online, a volunteer joined the search, and our community came together with one goal in mind—to help the girl find her missing green crayon.
When the crayon was finally found and reunited with the little girl, I couldn’t stop thinking about the joy that one small act of kindness had created. That real-life experience inspired me to write my first children’s book, Missing Green Crayon.
What started as a single story soon grew into something bigger. Through the Small Acts, Big Hearts series, I hope to inspire children to discover the power of kindness, compassion, courage, and community. My books are inspired by real experiences, real people, and real moments that remind us how much good can happen when we choose to help one another.
Today, my mission is simple: to help children understand that they don’t have to do something extraordinary to make a difference. Sometimes a smile, a helping hand, or a small act of kindness can change someone’s day—and maybe even their life.
Together, we can color the world with kindness, one small act at a time. 💚
